The name is intentional. RCR stands for Racer — and Van Rysel built the Van Rysel RCR Pro Red AXS Bike around that single brief without hedging. This is a race bike that competes directly with machines costing significantly more, and it has the results and the wind tunnel data to back up that claim. TOUR Magazine, after running the RCR through the GST wind tunnel, named it one of the ten fastest bikes in the test. The AG2R WorldTour team races it. At $11,599, it arrives with SRAM Red AXS electronic shifting, an integrated power meter, and Zipp 353 NSW wheels. Van Rysel built the RCR Pro around three performance pillars — aerodynamics, weight, and stiffness — and the design process for each is specific rather than generic. For aerodynamics, they partnered with Onera: the French Office National d'Études et de Recherches Aérospatiales, a national research center whose work spans aerospace, defense, and space programs. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics optimization in collaboration with Onera, Van Rysel sculpted every tube cross-section for efficiency across the wind angles that matter in real riding — roughly -15° to +15° from center — rather than optimizing for a single yaw angle that flatters lab results. The outcome is a frame and fork combination that the TOUR wind tunnel test placed among the most aerodynamically efficient road bikes currently available.
Weight reduction was handled through topological optimization — a process that computationally identifies where material can be removed without compromising structural integrity, then strips it. The approach extended beyond the frame to ancillary components, which is why the fork comes in at 380 grams and the frame itself ranges from 740 to 790 grams depending on size.
