Asymmetric Frame and Rear Triangle Engineering

Pinarello's patented asymmetric rear triangle is one of the most deliberate features on this bike. The drivetrain side of the rear triangle is reinforced to counterbalance the higher forces applied there, resulting in more balanced energy transfer and improved traction under hard pedaling. Asymmetry extends into the chainstays and seatstays as well, where it's designed to withstand the explosive accelerations that define elite XC racing.

The rear suspension uses a three-pivot layout combined with flex stays. Three pivots typically limit rear wheel travel, but the geometry here allows the flex stays to work alongside the pivot positions for a direct, efficient suspension response — one that saves weight, improves stiffness, and maintains a strong connection between rider and rear wheel. The bottom bracket area is intentionally oversized, using an enlarged bearing and pivot point for the rear triangle to create high stiffness at the frame's most load-intensive junction.
