The Colnago G5-X Red XPLR AXS Bike is the Italian brand's race-oriented gravel bike, built on a monocoque carbon frame and fork and finished with Sram's top-tier Red XPLR AXS drivetrain. It replaces the G4-X, and the changes are aimed at long, fast days on mixed terrain: more tire room, a more stable stance and more places to carry what you need.

Built for Distance, Not Just Speed
Colnago says the redesign drew on the demands of four events: Traka 200, Unbound 200, Badlands and GranGuanche Audax. The geometry reflects that. Chainstays grow to 435mm across the size range, up from 430mm on the G4-X, and bottom bracket drop increases to 80mm on the smaller frames and 77.5mm on the larger ones. The head tube angle is slacker, at 71 degrees on the mid-sizes. Together these changes are intended to give the bike steadier handling on loose descents and over rough surfaces, without losing the quick response a gravel race bike needs.
It comes in five sizes, 45 to 57cm, with the 54cm frame measuring 591mm stack and 401mm reach. Colnago specs stem length and bar width by size, from a 90mm stem and 40cm bar on the 45 up to a 110mm stem and 44cm bar on the 57, so the cockpit fits the frame it is attached to rather than being a one-size compromise.
Room for Bigger Tires
Tire clearance moves up from 45mm on the G4-X to a listed 53mm nominal width, measured with 6mm of space around the tire. The tires are mounted to Zipp 303 XPLR SW wheels, a carbon wheelset designed for gravel use that pairs well with the frame's race intent.
SRAM Red XPLR AXS
The drivetrain is SRAM Red AXS XPLR, with the rear derailleur, crankset and shifters all from the Red group. It runs a 13-speed 10-46 cassette with a 40-tooth chainring, a range that covers punchy climbs and fast flat sections with a single front ring. Braking is SRAM Red hydraulic disc with…
