About this bike

The Wilier Triestina Filante SLR ID2 is the ultimate evolution of the brand's high-end aerodynamic racing bicycle, designed to be the "Fastest" version of a rider. Developed in direct collaboration with World Tour professionals, including the Groupama-FDJ Cycling Team, it is the new benchmark for aero road bikes.

Here is a detailed breakdown of its features and design philosophy:

Aerodynamic and Performance Advantage

  • Certified Aerodynamic Efficiency: Rigorous testing in the Silverstone wind tunnel validated an extraordinary 13.6% reduction in drag compared to the previous Filante model. The comprehensive bike-and-rider system shows a 4.5% improvement in aerodynamic resistance.
  • Tangible Speed Gains: The aerodynamic refinements translate to real-world performance gains. Riding at 40 km/h (24.9 mph), a cyclist saves a substantial 14.15 watts of power. Over a 70 km course while maintaining 290 W of power, this results in a time gain of 1 minute and 45 seconds.
  • Frame Materials and Weight: The frame uses a premium blend of Toray T800, T1100 and M46JB high-modulus carbon fibers, combined with Liquid-Crystal Polymer. This proprietary mix ensures high responsiveness and stiffness without compromising lightness.
Frame Weight
Approximately 870 g (size M).
  • Complete Bike Weight: Starts at 7.1 kg (Dura-Ace Di2 build), with top-tier configurations capable of reaching 6.8 kg.
  • Increased Stiffness: The design achieves a 12.5% increase in the Stiffness-to-Weight (STW) ratio, providing superior steering precision and a feeling of security at high speeds.

Integrated Design and Features

  • Integrated Aerokit System: This is a hallmark of the new design. The custom down tube profile works in conjunction with the Elite-developed $1100 Aerokit bottle and cages. This system acts as a "veritable spoiler," stabilizing airflow and reducing drag by over two-thirds compared to conventional systems, making the bike more aerodynamic with the bottles in place.
  • F-Bar ID2 Integrated Cockpit: The carbon monocoque handlebar features Total Cable Integration, concealing all brake and derailleur cables for maximum aero benefit and a clean aesthetic. It introduces the Optimized Ergonomic Flare (O.E.F.), with an orthogonal flare in the drops for better control and an aerodynamic riding position. The clamping hardware is fully hidden and UCI-compliant.
  • Redesigned Fork: The fork blades are wider (13.6% wider than the Cento10PRO) to move them away from the wheel and reduce turbulence. It features a more pronounced fork crown for superior torsional stiffness and a thin aerodynamic fin on the left leg to guide airflow around the disc brake caliper.
  • Rear Triangle and Versatility: The rear stays are inclined inward to optimize pedal dynamics. The frame is future-proof with a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) dropout and the option for a removable front derailleur support for a drivetrain setup (compatible with chainrings up to 56 teeth). It offers clearance for tires up to 34…
